Warmblood - Large - Adult - Female - Horse - Velvet

Velvet is a 5-year-old Warmblood mare. She is not a rescue but a mare that was loved very much by her owner, who had a change in life circumstances and needed to find a good home for Velvet. She donated her to our rescue in February 2009 because she wanted peace of mind to know, should Velvet ever be put up for adoption, that she would be protected under contract as would her baby. The photo shows Velvet in foal, but her baby was born in April. As a weaniling, Velvet broke her knee. The injury was not treated and recent x-rays show that she will not be a riding horse. She is a pasture pal, and will be a wonderful horse for someone that wants to groom and love on a horse, but not ride. velvet does need some work on her ground manners, but she is a sweet and kind mare. She stands about 15 hands and is an easy keeper who gets along with others. Her adoption fee is $400 to an approved home only. We currently do not adopt to homes in Miami-Dade or Broward counties, and adoptions are limited to the state of FL.
